-2

This is called "-2" because it's one of two songs I did before the project started. Right away, I can already tell that the vocals sound way too quiet compared to the music, and that's something I'll be needing to watch out for.

"I walked countless miles
to get in this room
And what happens now
will be forgotten soon"

(should probably be 'won't be,' but I just wanted to try how the line worked counter to expectations)

  1. Another cool track. I like the mellow mid tempo vibe. Yeah, I think your vocals are way too quiet. Another trick you can try in terms of vocals is to double track your voice right away, even through the whole song if necessary. You don't have to harmonize or anything, just sing the same melody twice. It will make your vocals much more full. And if your second run through is close enough to the first, most folks probably won't even realize it's double tracked.

That synth melody that you bring in at :32 seems a bit too much too soon. Maybe bring it in later in the song. At that point in the song, maybe you can just bring in that little synth bass embellishment that you bring in at :48.

This track is probably my favorite so far. :)

I can't critique its structure personally, so I'll just suggest some production-type stuff, mainly the use of effects to soften and enrich the bare synth tones. The main "riff" might do well with some kind of chorusing or phaser effect, maybe some well-timed delay on the higher sawtooth sounds. And of course, what snare can't use a wash of reverb to glorify its decay? Either more reverb or a more subtle delay on the punchy bass notes could be used too. If you give these suggestions a try, let me know if you think they enhance the overall impact!
